Mattress Care
Helpful tips for extending the life of each type of sleep surface.
Depending on the type of bedding you select, there are a number of things you can do to extend the life of your mattress. Often overlooked, for all types of mattresses, you should ensure proper center support is used for queen, king, and California king mattress sizes (this is also required for warranty protection). Also, use a high-quality washable mattress protector instead of a mattress pad because it keeps moisture out of the mattress, and keeps it healthy.
Innerspring
For single-sided mattresses, rotate your mattress periodically, but do not flip. Rotation will equalize wear and extend the mattress's comfort life. Jordan's Sleep Lab suggests rotating every two weeks for the first two months, and four times a year thereafter. For two-sided, traditional innerspring mattresses, rotating and flipping in accordance to the manufacturer’s warranty will minimize body impressions and prolong the comfort life of the mattress.

Memory foam is sensitive to temperature and humidity, and becomes firmer in lower temperatures and humidity levels. If your mattress has been delivered folded at temperatures below 40 degrees, you must allow time for it to adjust to the surrounding room temperature — forcing it open can cause damage. In addition, never wash memory foam or Tempur-Pedic material.
