News & Events - Jordan's Furniture
Due to the challenges of Covid-19, the 2020 Jordan’s WalkRun For Adoption was a virtual event. Despite the change of format and the uncertainty of the times, the event was a success, raising over $96,000 for the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) and supporting their mission to find permanent homes for children, youth, and sibling groups living in foster care.
From May 11 – 17, donors were asked to celebrate foster care adoption by participating in the Virtual WalkRun any way that they could in their own environment … on a treadmill, on a trail, in a neighborhood and even on vacation! Over 300 participants shared their photos and videos via MARE and had the opportunity to win great prizes.
Now more than ever, we need heroes. So, if you have ever considered becoming one (and possibly a future adoptive parent!) to a child or youth in foster care, please contact MARE at MAREInc.org. It could change your life … and the life of a child.
Over 9,000 coats donated to help local families!
From October 2019 through December 2019, all Jordan's Furniture locations accepted like-new, gently-used winter coats for all ages, as a corporate partner and primary sponsor of Coats For Kids, a program run by Caring Partners Inc. The program provides winter garments for both children and families to area families in-need. Through the generosity of Jordan's customers, a record-setting 9,186 winter coats of all sizes were dropped off during the 3-month collection period. All coats were cleaned free of charge by Antons Cleaners. The donated coats were distributed to area families by partners such as The Salvation Army, Mass Coalition for the Homeless, Children's Friend, MASSCAP, the Wish Project, Jumpstart, Community Giving Tree, New Reach Inc. and many others, including social service agencies in MA, NH, RI, and CT.
Jordan's Furniture has been a proud sponsor and partner with Coats For Kids for over 15 years. A radio public-service-campaign aired throughout the market and was voiced by Jordan's President Eliot Tatelman. To help further publicize the program, Jordan's displayed posters in all stores, included information on the company's website, posted messages on social media, and deployed email blasts. Jordan's also ran special "Collection Days" in stores with media partners like iHeartRadio and Boston 25 TV.
"We are proud to be an integral part of this important program that gives back directly to the community", says Tatelman. "There are so many families right here within our communities that need assistance, especially during the winter months, so we offer our stores as drop-off locations for coats, making it easy for our customers to participate. And our friends at Antons Cleaners, who created the program, do such a great job! We are happy to support this wonderful initiative."
Jordan's also provided many of the prizes for Coats For Kids' "School Rewards Program", including donations toward after-school or sports programs to the schools that collected the most number of coats. Tickets to Jordan's Sunbrella IMAX Theaters were also part of the prize packages. Congratulations to this years' winners - Winning Elementary School : Colonial Park School in Stoneham, MA, Winning Middle School : The Accord School in Norwell, MA, and Winning High School : Medway High School in Medway, MA. Well done, students!
The mission of Coats for Kids is simple, "Anyone who needs a coat will have one." Since the program's conception by Antons in 1995, over one million coats have been collected and distributed. Coats For Kids is a Caring Partners program and is sponsored by Jordan's Furniture, Antons Cleaners, and Enterprise Bank.
Over 550 gifts donated by the J-Team for the 2019 holiday season
To celebrate the holiday season, employees of Jordan's Furniture, The J-Team, generously purchased presents for the young students of Head Start schools in all of the company's communities. Over 550 wrapped holiday gifts were then delivered to the schools in Jordan's vans, making the holidays brighter for lots of local children. The gifts were distributed to seven (7) different schools within the communities where there are Jordan's store locations. It was all part of the Jordan's Furniture 2019 Head Start Holiday Gift Program. The gift deliveries were made to the schools a week before Christmas, so that teachers could distribute them to the students in the classroom or teachers could give the gifts to parents to use on Christmas morning. Participating J Team members chose a child's name and then purchased and wrapped a gift to donate to that specific child. It is one of the best Jordan's delivery made all year!
Jordan's Furniture has partnered with area Head Start programs during the holiday seasons since 2009, with all donated gifts directly benefiting the children and the families within the schools. Head Start programs promote school readiness of children ages birth to five from low-income families by supporting their development in a comprehensive way. The programs within Head Start support early learning, health, and family well-being. Jordan's Furniture is proud to make the holidays brighter for these very special children.
