If dinner is in the works, a dining set is essential, and if space permits, a separate bar for serving cocktails. Inside or out, flexibility is key to making your party a success. Patriotic Trifle in a Jar

A light, colorful dessert bursting with fresh berry flavors! Family and guests will rave for seconds.

2 pound cakes
1 pint blueberries
1 pint raspberries
Whipped cream


Slice pound cake into 1-inch slices and cut circles to fit 8-oz. jelly jars. Alternately, you could cut the pound cake into cubes.

Starting with a layer of cake on the bottom, follow with blueberries, whipped cream, raspberries, and top with another layer of cake.

Garnish with more whipped cream and berries if desired.

If your 4th of July party is on a super-hot day, serving an ice cream dessert is a delicious way to cool off.

Firecracker Milkshake

Based on looks alone, guests will have a blast when they try this treat! To create this amazingly festive look, it’s all about technique.

1 half gal. vanilla ice cream
3 drops of red food coloring
3 drops of blue food coloring


Soften ice cream to a soft serve/yogurt texture. Evenly divide ice cream into three bowls.

Place red food coloring in one bowl and blue in the other. Using a whisk, beat coloring in each bowl until well blended.

Layer bottom of glass with red ice cream, then plain vanilla, and blue ice cream. Using a long spoon or knife, drag it from the bottom to the top, stirring in between to mix the color (do not overmix).

Optional decorating idea: finish with whipped cream, and red, white and blue confetti.

Craft paint in red, white and blue


Start by painting the 5 “O”s red.

Paint the 5 “X”s blue.

Once dry, paint white stars on the blue X’s, and white stripes on the red O’s.

Use rope to make the lines for the tic tac toe board. That’s it! Have fun and enjoy!
