2023 WPLR Toy Drive raises over $165,000 for CT charities
at Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven
Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven hosted the WPLR’s Chaz
and AJ Toy Drive on Friday December 9th from 6am to 10am, collecting cash and toys
equaling $167,200 to be distributed to local CT children’s charities.
The annual fundraising live radio broadcast featured
performances from classic rock band Foghat, local band Finger Eleven, plus youth school
band Rock House and area favorite The Rum Runners.
Other highlights included appearances from Governor Ned
Lamont, US Senator Richard Blumenthal, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, East Haven Mayor
Joseph Carfora, and other local dignitaries and politicians including former State
Senator George Logan, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and Bridgeport mayoral candidate John
Gomes.

tremendous support of our listeners,” Morning Show host Chaz said, “To be able to raise
over $167,000 in cash and toys and know that it is helping a child in Connecticut wake
up to a better Christmas, is so heart-warming.”
The toys and cash were distributed to Boys and Girls
Village, Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Central Connecticut Coast
YMCA, McGivney Community Center, TEAM Inc., and the Center for Family Justice, Inc.
