Organic, Natural, or Simply Green
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE between organic, natural, or simply "green"? That's a question posed by many consumers. At Jordan's Sleep Lab, we try to make it easy to be environmentally conscious. We start by a full explanation. We follow it up by labeling our online product with the icons below for easy recognition.
Our Green Leaf System
In order to help our customers differentiate Earth-friendly Sleep Lab products from other merchandise, we affix our own green leaf icons to them. There are three different Sleep Lab product icons you'll see on this Web site:
LIGHT GREEN leaves are
applied to Earth-friendly products.
MEDIUM GREEN leaves are
applied to natural products.
DARK GREEN leaves designate
products that are truly organic.
What Does 'Organic' or 'Natural' Really Mean?
True organic materials have no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or hormones. In fact, in order for products to be considered "organic" by law, manufacturers are prohibited from using such chemicals growing or raising of any of the products’ raw materials. No harsh chemicals may be used in processing of those materials either—that means the cleaners or dyes that are used must also be certified organic.
On the other hand, "natural" products are those that have not been bleached or altered in any chemical way. Natural products are not combined with synthetic fibers or materials either. It is very important to understand, however, that unlike certified organic products, natural products are indeed permitted to employ pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, and/or hormones during the growing and raising of raw materials.
Simply Green
When a bedding manufacturer improves upon their processes for the environment, whether by selecting more sustainable products or by reducing emissions or waste, Jordan's Sleep Lab calls those products Simply Green. For mattress manufacturers, being Simply Green usually means using less petro chemicals.
When looking to support products that fit ecology into their manufacturing, look for the Simply Green leaf symbol outlined below.
