Head Start Holiday Donation Program
OVER 500 STUDENTS in five local communities benefit annually from a holiday donation program for Head Start. Each year, Jordan's Furniture delivers wrapped gifts directly to Head Start classrooms. A fiscal donation from Jordan's Furniture is used to purchase additional holiday gifts for students.
Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness among the children, ages 3 to 5, of economically disadvantaged families. Head Start maintains a special focus on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills needed for success in the school years to come.
Head Start was established in 1975 in recognition of the strong evidence supporting the earliest years as mattering a great deal in the long-term growth and development in children. The social services of Head Start programs are open to enrolled children and their families. Head Start engages parents in the learning process of their children, helping them make progress toward their goals of raising healthy kids.
Our Role
The holidays can be a difficult time for many families enrolled in Head Start programs. So, Jordan's Furniture proudly helps by collecting gifts from Jordan's Furniture employees who shop for specific children within the program. The gifts are then delivered directly to the schools for distribution by teachers or parents for Christmas morning.
The holiday gift-giving benefits Head Start locations serving children and families in the areas of Taunton, Avon, Natick/Framingham, Reading, and Nashua—all communities in which a Jordan's Furniture store is located.
