Opening weekend a success
| You hear the hip, new re-mix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation" blaring from state-of-the-art sound systems. Psychedelic lights flash throughout the mammoth room. You munch on delicious, butter-soaked popcorn and sip frosty-cold Coca-Cola as you settle into the plush, high-back, upholstered seats with plenty of foot room. Relax and get ready. This ain’t your grandma's theater experience! This is Eliot and Barry's newest and craziest project at Jordan's Furniture…their brand-new IMAX theater in the Natick store!
Officially named the AT&T Broadband IMAX 3D Theater at Jordan's Furniture/Natick, the theater opened to the public this past weekend and "wowed" over 2500 guests. It will be run commercially, showing many different types of films. With one huge 6-story 3D movie screen and 12,000 watts of sound, the theater will daypart it's programming, attracting different audiences during different parts of the day. Before entering the theater, you walk through the beautifully designed and spacious Jordan's showrooms in the Natick store. You then ride up the IMAX escalator, feeling like a celebrity yourself, due to the paparazzi mural, stobe lights (simulating camera flashes), and videos of crowds vying for your attention. As the signs read "You’re the star!" No shortage of customer-service here!
Once inside the retro-style theater lobby, adorned with huge lightboxes containing movie posters, you can buy your movie tickets and popcorn at one place…the concession counter, cleverly dubbed "I-Snax". No waiting in line twice at this theater!
So, thinking about going furniture shopping soon? Why not throw in a bigger-than-life movie experience while you're at it! This multi-sensory visual and auditory explosion is called IMAX. Visit the Jordan's Furniture in Natick and you won't believe your eyes and your ears!
Films now showing include: Space Station 3D "Ever want to travel into space? This is your BIG chance! Journey to the International Space Station with real astronauts and cosmonauts. The 3D images are so amazing that you will actually feel like you are floating in space!"
3D Mania: Encounter In The Third Dimension "This film is fun for everyone. Experience the awesome and exciting 3D effects of an animated rollercoaster and flying robot! See classic clips from one of the earliest 3D movies ever made, along with characters like the original Mistress of the Dark, Elvira!"
Across The Sea Of Time "This mesmerizing 3D film takes you through the experiences of an adorable immigrant boy. Explore New York City from his innocent eyes, with unbelievable 3D scenes and emotional stories. It will tug at your heart strings."
All Access "This film is your front row ticket and backstage pass to the hottest performers in today's music industry. Performances and conversations with artists like Sting, Dave Mathews, Mary J. Blige, Macy Grey, Santana, Kid Rock, Cheryl Crow, BB King and more bring you into their high-energy world as performers."
Upcoming films include "Santa vs. The Snowman" (a humorous and heartfelt story in the holiday spirit, good for the whole family), "The Human Body" (a mesmerizing, emotional story including footage from inside the human body), and "Apollo 13" (this Hollywood blockbuster starring Tom Hanks is sure to wow audiences).
