Jordan's Furniture's New Orleans beads to help Hurricane Katrina's New Orleans victims.
Jordan's Furniture has been handing out Mardi Gras beads since they opened their Natick store in 1999, due to the "Bourbon Street" theme of the store. But now, these beads can raise some much-needed money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the real New Orleans.

Beginning this weekend, customers can purchase the beads for $1 or more (amount is up to each customer) and receive a set of New Orleans Mardi Gras beads to show their support. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross/Hurricane Relief Fund.

"It just made sense" said Eliot Tatelman, president of Jordan's Furniture. "We all feel a bit helpless, so far away from the disaster area. But we have a built-in way to raise money (the beads) that have a natural connection to New Orleans. The beads can also show donor support. We hope to raise a lot of money for the thousands of hurricane victims who are suffering every day."

Additionally, all proceeds from a Duck Tour Race (carnival game) in the Reading store and The Streetcar Named Dessert (ice cream store) in the Natick store will go directly to the cause, through the American Red Cross. Proceeds will be collected until the end of 2005.

Since every donation counts, please feel free to contact the American Red Cross directly to make a donation toward the cause. You can call 1-800-HELP-NOW or go online to redcross.org. To send a check, make it payable to The American Red Cross/Hurricane Relief Fund. Send to American Red Cross of Mass Bay, 285 Columbus Avenue, Boston, MA 02116.

Jordan's Furniture is proud to support the relief efforts. We thank you for your cooperation and generosity.
