| Jordan's Furniture and Country Radio 99.5 Band Together to Host 10th Annual "Country Cares" Radiothon To Benefit the Kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. | Top Country Bands Perform Live at Jordan's Furniture in Reading - COUNTRY 99.5 Strives to Break Record to Reach $3 Million Mark.
| On Thursday, March 10th, and Friday, March 11th, Jordan's Furniture is the host-site for the 2005 St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital WKLB Radiothon. Jordan's Furniture has partnered with popular Boston radio station WKLB (Country 99.5 FM) to raise money for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The hospital provides ongoing medical care for children all over the world that are diagnosed with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Last year, Country 99.5 raised nearly half a million dollars in 2 days. Over the past nine years, the radio station has raised a total of $2.3 million. This year, Country 99.5’s goal is to break its record and reach $3 million in honor of its 10th anniversary supporting St. Jude’s "Country Cares" cause.
"The radiothon has become a highly charged annual event and one that has won the heart and soul of Country 99.5. The outpouring of support from our listeners, local communities, and musicians is so tremendous that by the end of the two days, we are left speechless but eternally grateful for the generosity shown for this great cause. We hope to make our 10th anniversary the best year ever,” said Mike Brophey, Program Director at WKLB.
Jordan's Furniture, known for it's philanthropy and community outreach, made for a natural event site. "We are thrilled to be a part of this year'ss radiothon" said Barry Tatelman of Jordan's. "We have been a supporter of St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital in the past. However, we are happy to increase our involvement and, in turn, help even more children. That's what it's all about."
Proceeds for the radiothon come from donations in person, over the phone, and through a live Internet auction on www.wklb.com. Auction items include David Ortiz's autographed jersey; Curt Shilling's autographed Red Sox hat; Phil Vassar autographed keyboard; autographed guitars and more.
Country artists will join the broadcast for both days. Highlights include: - Andy Griggs - March 10th at 11:00 a.m. - Aaron Lines - March 10th at 12:30 p.m. - Sugarland - March 10th at 5:00 p.m. - Miranda Lambert - March 11th at 12:00 noon - Billy Dean - March 11th at 1:00 p.m. - Blue County - March 11th at 6:00 p.m.
