Matches school donations

Once again, Jordan’s Furniture has joined Project Bread to help feed hungry families during the holiday season through their Holiday Spoons Program. And Jordan’s will match every dollar raised*, so the donations go twice as far! (*up to $10,000). For more information, go online to and learn how you can help.

Congratulations to Carla Tassinari of Andover, MA!  The winning entry was submitted by her daughter :

“My mom is the most remarkable woman that I have ever known. She spent her days chasing after four children, cleaning, cooking and taking care of the family finances. It was nice to come home from school and have her waiting for us with a snack. My mom became a widow at the age of 41 and she had three teenagers and a 12 year old to raise alone. It was a very difficult time for her, but she pushed through it and stayed very involved in our lives. She got breast cancer a few years later, had surgery and just went on with her life. She has a huge heart and she's always been so kind and giving with everyone in her life. Two years she had breast cancer again and has bounced back really well. I admire her strength and attitude about life. She's taught me that being a mother is not only the toughest job, but also the most rewarding thing that will ever happen in my life.  She's my friend, my mentor, my rock, and most of all, my Mom!”

We are very excited about the prospects of providing Rhode Islanders with a vast assortment of high quality furniture and mattresses, all with our famous Under Price Guarantee."

Play Ball

On February 20, 2011, Jordan's Furniture launched its Play Ball Program, a donation drive supplying gently-used baseball/softball equipment to inner-city youth. In partnership with the Red Sox Foundation's "Reviving Baseball to Inner Cities", equipment was collected for over 2000 inner-city youth.

From February 20 until April 1, equipment donations were dropped off at all Jordan's Furniture stores from individuals, families, schools, Little Leagues, and training centers. Equipment included bats, catcher's equipment, helmets, gloves, cleats, outdoor bases, baseballs, and softballs.

And on April 14, Jordan's Furniture proudly delivered a truck-load of equipment to Fenway Park for the kids participating in the Red Sox Foundation's RBI Program.

And many area schools got involved, too! Congratulations to Hingham High School, who donated the most amount of equipment and received a school visit by Red Sox mascot Wally, along with the World Series Trophies, a pre-game presentation at Fenway, Red Sox tickets, and furniture for their Teacher's Lounge.

"In this day and age of pay-to-play, there are thousands of kids that just cannot afford to play sports", said Eliot Tatelman of Jordan's Furniture. "We think that every youth should enjoy America's favorite pastime so we created the Play Ball Program. And with the help of the Red Sox Foundation, we'll be able to reach a lot of inner-city kids in our area."
