Plus One Challenge
RECRUITING FOSTER FAMILIES is critical to the well-being of foster children in the Bay State. To help the cause, Jordan's Furniture president and CEO Eliot Tatelman spearheads the Plus One Challenge.
The Plus One Challenge is a state-wide initiative, and it involves every foster family and every recruitment social worker. Overseen by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) that embraces the concept, "What if every existing foster parent recruited just one more foster family?"
Our Role
The Plus One Challenge was created by Eliot and Jordan's Furniture alongside DCF. From late 2008 through April 2010, the initiative recruited over 1,000 foster families.
As a figurehead to the program, Eliot visits Foster Family Appreciation Dinners and DCF Regional Meetings. Most of the recruiting that Eliot and Jordan's Furniture helps facilitate is done at the "grass roots" level within churches, community organizations, schools, and neighborhoods.
